Dear Parents
1. SECURITY: As the World Cup Soccer Events draw near, parents are once again reminded to keep a vigilant eye on their children.
Please remember the talk at Saturn next week and send your reply slip to Atholl Heights if you are interested in attending. Payment is at the door on the evening. In order to assist us with our internal security please take note of the following:
a) If a child is being taken out of school during school time please send a letter to the school advising of the reason and time that the child will be fetched. Failing being able to send a letter please phone the school. Parents must report to reception with their ID document and the secretary will call the child from the classroom. No pupils are allowed to meet parents at the gate.
b) All children must stay inside the school grounds until parents arrive to fetch the learners. No learners may wait outside. If parents are late it means that your child is outside of the supervision of the duty teachers. This is concerning as many parents fetch their children late. After Care is available by arrangement. Please help us to keep your children safe.
c) Also, in the interests of safety all children should be at school no later than 7.35am. This will enable the teacher to do the register timeously.
d) Please discuss stranger danger with your child and encourage them to follow the rules which are designed to protect them a. Do not go home with anyone other than the usual transport. b. If a stranger approaches you walk away. c. Do not walk home alone. d. If anyone touches you or attempts to take you somewhere scream loudly and continuously. e. If unsure of anything consult the office e.g. lift not arriving, missing the taxi etc.
2. Snack Sensation Catalogues These have been sent home for parents’ perusal. We encourage you to place an order to be returned on 31 May. The school will benefit from all purchases.
3. Commitment Please encourage your child to honour all his / her commitments. We all depend on each other for the success of the school.
4. Absence: Parents are required to send a letter if your child misses school for any reason ie. illness, interviews, travel etc. This enables the school to keep accurate records and also keeps the teacher informed if there is a health problem.
5. We are having very pleasing results with our sports fixtures and there is a positive vibe throughout the school. We are looking forward to our Sports Tour with great anticipation. Thank you to all our parents for their support, encouragement and interest.
6. Sports Tour Fund Raising: Gee Jays tickets are still available from the office. This function is for all parents, friends and family. Tickets cost R85pp. Friday 21 May and Saturday 22 May at 19h00.
Theodore Roosevelt, a popular president, said the road to success was “to do what you can, with what you have, where you are”.
